Zoom out far enough and you see months of sustained KPI improvement. Zoom in, and you see something more revealing, the behavioral mechanics of why Missions work, visible in the three-day window around each event.
This is Part 4 of The Engagement Effect. Part 1 showed how our free-to-play mini game Wonder Fortune turns a free spin into a habit of return. Part 2 revealed the value gap between Mission-engaged players and those who aren't. Part 3 traced how platform-wide KPIs improve as Mission adoption grows. This piece pulls the lens in to the micro-behavioral level: what happens to player spending and activity in the days around a Mission, and, with it, how healthy that behaviour actually is for the player and for the operator.
Parts 1 through 3 built the macro picture: Gamanza Engage's gamification mechanics drive measurable, consistent improvement in player value and platform performance, across operators and markets. But macro data, by nature, shows you the outcome, not the reason behind it.
The Feature Impact Window analysis takes a different approach. For each Mission event across four European operators, it splits player activity into three phases, 3 days before, during, and 3 days after, and tracks ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) and deposit behaviour across each. The result is a behavioral signature: a picture of what Missions do to player engagement at the exact moment it happens.
Up to 3 Times More Active Customers on the During-Window Spike

The most visible finding is also the sharpest. Across all four operators, ARPU roughly doubles, and in one case nearly triples, during active engagement, compared to the 3 days before.
One operator sees ARPU rise by close to 200% during the Mission, nearly a 3× increase. Two others show a similar jump, in the 140% to 160% range. The fourth rises by roughly 110%. The pattern holds everywhere.
Participant data confirms it. Before the Mission, an average of 35–48 players per event are active. During, that rises to 80–142. After, it returns to 41–50. The Mission window doesn't just make already-active players more active, it pulls additional players into an active state. The Mission creates its own gravity. And it does so without relying on an aggressive promotion or a forced bonus: the pull comes from the experience itself, not from pressure on the player.
The Post-Window Finding
In 3 of 4 operators, players carry heightened engagement forward after Mission completion
The during-window spike is the expected story. The post-window data says more.
In three of four operators, ARPU in the 3 days following Mission completion is measurably higher than ARPU in the 3 days before it began, not compared to the during-peak, which expectedly recedes, but to the baseline, by 10% to 23%.
This is the behavioral trace of finishing something that mattered. When a person completes a meaningful pursuit, they rarely return to a neutral state: the experience of having achieved something activates the drive to achieve more. Players carry that heightened state forward into the days that follow.
The fourth operator shows a flat post-window, ARPU returning almost exactly to prior levels. That isn't a negative result; it's a reassuring one. A Mission capable of producing a 2× spending spike during engagement and then returning players to their prior baseline rather than dropping them below it, is doing exactly what responsible engagement design should do, activate, without depleting. For operators in regulated markets, that distinction isn't a technicality: it's the difference between engagement that can be defended to a regulator and engagement that can't.
A Game Win Designed to feel Earned
The post-window elevation, present in three of four operators, suggests that completing a Mission doesn't just satisfy a desire; it amplifies the drive that created it. Players who finish Missions want more.
But this effect isn't automatic. It depends on whether completing the Mission felt good enough to leave that residue of motivation.
A text notification that says "Mission Complete" activates very little. Gamanza Engage is built on the opposite principle: every moment of achievement should feel like one. As a Mission concludes, an animated sequence fires, progress bars fill, the objective registers visually, and a reward chest appears, bouncing with anticipation until the player taps it, opening in an animation built for that exact moment and making the prize feel earned rather than dispensed. Every mechanic across the platform is held to this standard: purpose-built widgets, fluid animations, micro-interactions that make the player feel the platform is responding to them, personally.
The post-window data across these four operators is, in part, the measurable evidence of that design philosophy. Players who experience a completion that genuinely feels significant don't return to baseline, they carry that heightened state forward, and the three-day ARPU data captures it.

The four datasets in this series describe the same phenomenon at different levels of resolution.
Wonder Fortune (Part 1) shows it in a free-to-play context: a beautifully designed participatory experience creates the habit of return. The cohort data (Part 2) shows it in cross-section: players engaging with Missions generate multiples of the value of those who don't. The trend data (Part 3) shows it longitudinally: as organic adoption grows, platform-wide KPIs move upward with it. And the impact window data (Part 4) shows it in real time: in the days around each Mission, spending concentrates, participation expands, and the effect carries forward past the Mission's end.
The same behavioral truth, visible at whatever timescale you choose to look at it.
For operators evaluating engagement investment, this four-layer picture makes the mechanism legible. The numbers are compelling on their own. What matters more is where they come from: players engaging with experiences that feel genuinely rewarding, built by a platform that treats the quality of the moment as structural, never decorative. It is also, by design, growth an operator can sustain without leaning on increasingly aggressive incentives: responsible engagement, not just profitable engagement.
